HG IBO #03 EB-05s McGillis’s Schwalbe Graze

$13.99

The McGillis Schwalbe Graze is a customized Schwalbe Graze used by McGillis Fareed in his first skirmish with Tekkedan’s forces. The Schwalbe Graze is the high-performance version of the Graze Standard Type used by Gjallarhorn’s Commanders and ace pilots. The Schwalbe Graze uses a standard Graze Frame underneath its armor and gets its increased maneuverability from additional thrusters mounted to Mobile Suit’s exterior. Like many high-mobility variants throughout the Gundam Universes, the Schwalbe Graze sacrifices user-friendliness for performance and thus requires immense pilot skill to utilize the suit’s full potential. McGillis Fareed’s piloting prowess coupled with the McGillis Schwalbe Graze’s high performance allowed the duo to fight against Alaya-Vijnana equipped Mobile Suits on a level playing field.

Included alongside the McGillis Schwalbe Graze for accessories:

  • GR-W01 120mm Rifle
  • GR-H01 9.8m Battle Axe
  • GR-Es02 Wire Claw

Articulation
 –

The McGillis Schwalbe Graze uses the same internal structure as the Graze Standard Type, which provides a satisfying and straightforward build, even if you’ve assembled one already. You’ll find double-jointed knees, swiveling thighs, and chest articulation all made their way into the Graze Frame. While using the same internal frame to create a myriad of model kits may seem like purely cost-cutting, and it certainly does play into the low cost of the HG IBO lineup, this is in line with the Post-Disaster Timeline’s lore. McGillis Schwalbe Graze’s side skirting armor attaches to the torso instead of the waist, inhibiting the model’s waist rotation. The McGillis Schwalbe Graze features two large thrusters mounted to its back on articulated arms, allowing the thrusters to face forward and provide counter-thrust, just like in the anime!

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes

The McGillis Schwalbe Graze and the other Schwalbe Graze units utilize the same loadout as the Graze Standard Type, including the GR-W01 120mm Rifle and the GR-H01 9.8m Battle Axe. The rifle fits right into McGillis Schwalbe Graze’s hand and attaches to the forearm for additional support. The McGillis Schwalbe Graze can hold its ax in either hand, but you may have issues getting the model to wield this weapon right out of the box, as its hilt is rounded and does not clip into the manipulator. The GR-H01 9.8m Battle Axe also features two 3mm pegs, allowing builders to store the weapon on either side of the McGillis Schwalbe Graze’s waist armor.

This kit includes:

7 Runners total (A, B, C, D1, D2, E, PC002)
Total Piece Count – 129 with 8 Unused Parts
Foil Stickers

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HG IBO #03 McGillis Schwalbe Graze with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking DecalsTop Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
