HG IBO #14 V08-1228 Grimgerde

$15.99

The Grimgerde is a sleek, high-performance Mobile Suit used by the Montag Company to assist Tekkadan’s approach towards Earth. Like the Gundam Frames, Grimgerde started its life during the Calamity War, approximately 300 years before the events of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. Grimgerde is one of nine speculated Mobile Suits built around the Valkyrja Frame. The Valkyrja Frame is just a step below the Gundam Frame in combat performance, as the Valkyrja Frame only features a single Ahab Reactor. Grimgerde is also very lightweight, providing incredible performance in space and almost negating the effects of gravity on the Mobile Suit. The Valkyrja Frame is an excellent balance between simplicity and high performance, leading Gjallarhorn to base its mass-production Graze Frame on the Valkyrja Frame. In the hands of a skilled pilot, Grimgerde could go toe-to-toe with a Gundam Frame in close-quarters engagements.

Here’s what Bandai included alongside the Grimgerde for accessories:

  • Valkyrja Blade x2
  • Valkyrja Shield x2
  • 110mm Valkyrja Rifle

Articulation
 –

Bandai recreated Grimgerde’s Valkyrja Frame using new parts, providing this model with a unique construction. The Helmwige Reincar also uses this internal design, as it uses Grimgerde’s Valkrja Frame with new armor, repurposed as an escort unit for McGillis’s forces. Likely, the recently announced V07-0126 Sigrún will also use these internal components, as it features the Valkyrja Frame and shares a strong resemblance with Grimgerde. Grimgerde features all the articulation points you’d expect from a member of the HG IBO lineup, including double jointed knees and swiveling thighs.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes

Grimgerde includes a 110mm Valkyrja Rifle for medium-long range engagements. With its articulated grip and drum magazine, this rifle would blend in perfectly in the hands of an HGUC Zaku II! Builders can relocate the drum magazine to the rifle’s side, allowing Grimgerde to store the weapon on its back skirt when not in use. Grimgerde’s most distinctive weapon is the Valkyrja Blades. The swords are typically handheld but can also deploy from inside Grimgerde’s Valkyrja Shields for better leverage. For storage, reverse the blade’s orientation within the Valkyrja Shield and reattach it to the Mobile Suit’s arm.

5 Runners total (A, B, C, D, E, PC002)
Total Piece Count – 102 with 11 Unused Parts

HG IBO #14 Grimgerde

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HG IBO #14 Grimgerde with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking DecalsTop Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
