HG IBO #19 ASW-G-29 Gundam Astaroth

$13.99

The Gundam Astaroth has taken on a stylish new form after its 300-year dirt nap in a giant crater on the Moon’s surface! After being broken apart and sold for parts due to some unfortunate circumstances within Gjallarhorn’s Warren Family, Gundam Astaroth’s frame was all that remained. Volco Warren, a member of the disgraced Warren House, brought the Gundam Astaroth frame to Tanto Tempo, who would protect Volco and outfit Gundam Astaroth with armor and weapons recycled from other Mobile Suits. During a failed assassination of Tanto Tempo’s leader, Daddy Ted, Argi Mirage would become the pilot of Gundam Astaroth, finally attaining the power to begin seeking revenge on the Gundam who killed his entire family. To learn more about Argi, Volco, and Gundam Astaroth, check out the fan translation of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Gekko, which is also the origin of the new Gundam Gremory.

Here’s what Bandai included alongside the Gundam Astaroth for accessories:

  • Demolition Knife
  • Combat Knife
  • Rifle

Articulation
 –

Gundam Astaroth uses the same internal construction as the rest of the HG IBO Gundams, so building Gundam Astaroth will be pretty familiar if you’ve assembled other HG IBO models before. While this may seem like purely cost-cutting, it is in line with the Post-Disaster timeline lore. Gundam Astaroth is a parts-bin special featuring reused armor components from the Spinner Rodi and Hyakuren to make its left arm. The left-arm also hosts Gundam Astaroth’s Sub Knuckle. The Sub Knuckle is an oversized, three-finger manipulator used to trap enemy Mobile Suits or disable their weaponry. Bandai made sure to provide some articulation in the manipulator for more dynamic posing opportunities!

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes

As for the Gundam Astaroth’s weaponry, its primary choice is the Demolition Knife. The Demolition Knife is a gigantic folding sword used to hack enemy Mobile Suits to pieces. Bandai recreated the folding gimmick, allowing builders to store the weapon on Gundam Astaroth’s backpack when not in use. For long-range engagements, the Gundam Astaroth uses a handheld rifle customized by Volco Warren to help improve its accuracy. Gundam Astaroth also sorties with a small Combat Knife for emergencies. There are multiple versions of the HG Gundam Astaroth available, including the Calamity War Version and the Season 2 Refresh, so be sure to check those out!

HG IBO #19 Gundam Astaroth

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HG IBO #19 Gundam Astaroth with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking DecalsTop Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
