$17.99

The Gundam Kimaris Vidar is the final version of Gaelio’s Gundam Kimaris, used during the climax of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans’ second season. After Gundam Vidar‘s short battle with Mikazuki’s Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex, Vidar would return to Gjallarhorn for repair. Gjallarhorn’s engineers removed the third Ahab Reactor and returned Gundam Vidar to a Calamity War Era configuration, creating Gundam Kimaris Vidar. Gundam Kimaris Vidar’s new loadout puts a heavy emphasis on space combat and high-velocity attacks. Out of all of Gundam Kimaris’s configurations, the Gundam Kimaris Vidar is the most versatile, as its variety of weapons allows it to engage at any distance.

Here’s what Bandai included alongside the Gundam Kimaris Vidar for accessories:

  • Drill Lance
  • Sword
  • KEP Bullet x2
  • Parts for Drill Knee x2

Articulation
 –

Gundam Kimaris Vidar uses the same internal construction as the rest of the HG IBO Gundams, so building Gundam Kimaris Vidar will be pretty familiar if you’ve assembled other HG IBO models before. While this may seem like purely cost-cutting, it is in line with the Post-Disaster timeline lore. The overall shape of Gundam Kimaris Vidar is much more slender than its original configuration, giving the suit a much more aggressive appearance. To compensate for its reduced armor Gundam Kimaris Vidar utilizes a pair of Shields mounted on individual sub-arms protruding from the Mobile Suit’s backpack. Each Shield opens via parts relocation to reveal Gundam Kimaris Vidar’s special KEP Bullets for the Dainsleif Launchers mounted inside the Drill Lance.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes

Speaking of the Drill Lance, this weapon is super cool! The Drill Lance is a terrifying striking weapon used in various hit-and-run attacks. The Drill Lance does not rotate as it would in the show. Inside this weapon hides a pair of 200mm autocannons and two Dainsleif Launchers for an insane amount of long-range firepower. Stored atop the left skirt armor is a Sword made from the same metal found within the Gundam Frames, making it super tough. Gundam Kimaris Vidar utilizes this weapon in dire situations where its Drill Lance won’t do the trick. Additionally, Gundam Kimaris Vidar features two hidden Drills built into its knees, also used in close quarters situations where the Drill Lance would be ineffective.

HG IBO #35 Gundam Kimaris Vidar

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HG IBO #35 Gundam Kimaris Vidar with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking DecalsTop Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
