The ZGMF-X666S Legend Gundam is the follow-up to ZAFT’s ZGMF-X13A Providence Gundam, seen in Mobile Suit Gundam Seed. The ZGMF-X666S Legend Gundam introduced a Quantum Communication System, allowing regular pilots to make full use of the suit’s DRAGOON System. The ZGMF-X666S Legend Gundam battled alongside the ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam in numerous battles. ZAFT developed these Mobile Suits simultaneously, and both feature powerful Variable Phase Shift Armor and a Hyper-Deuterion Engine powerplant. These technical advances put the ZGMF-X666S Legend Gundam in a performance class above the Second Stage Series Mobile Suits and rivaled Kira Yamato’s ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom.

Articulation –

This HG rendition of the ZGMF-X666S Legend Gundam may be old but has tons of excellent features and gimmicks that’ll make any builder will fall in love! All six of the GDU-X5 DRAGOONS attached to the backpack feature articulated attachment points. This added articulation allows for the individual posing of each DRAGOON, replicating their multi-target capabilities. The entire backpack folds inwards and forwards 90 degrees, turning the pair of GDU-X7 DRAGOONS into a deadly set of forward-facing cannons! The ZGMF-X666S Legend Gundam itself is fully articulate thanks to its straightforward polycap construction. Only the knees are double-jointed, and the torso does not provide any forward movement to cope with the weight of its enormous backpack.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes –

The ZGMF-X666S Legend Gundam makes use of eight GDU-X5 DRAGOONS and two larger GDU-X7 DRAGOONS. Each DRAGOON is removable, including the two attached to the skirt armor. Bandai included six Effect Parts in transparent blue plastic for displaying the six backpack-mounted GDU-X5 DRAGOONS launching from their storage location. For handheld armaments, the ZGMF-X666S Legend Gundam includes the MA-BAR78F High Energy Beam Rifle. This weapon draws power from the suit’s Hyper-Deuterion Engine, providing the rifle with impressive power output and a rate of fire exceeding any Second Stage Series Beam Rifles.

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HG #35 ZGMF-X666S Legend Gundam with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too!

It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking Decals. Top Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides.

This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
