HG The Origin #21 RX-78-01[FSD] Gundam FSD

The RX-78-01[FSD] Gundam FSD is a prototype Mobile Suit created as a part of the Full-Scale Development plan. The Earth Federation outfitted the RX-78-01[FSD] Gundam FSD with enhanced components and new weaponry to continue testing the RX-78 platform. The RX-78-01[FSD] Gundam FSD features several experimental weapons, including a wrist-mounted Gatling Gun and a Folding Shield. Like the previous iteration, the RX-78-01[N] Gundam Local Type North American, the RX-78-01[FSD] Gundam FSD’s backpack features multiple hardpoints for mounting different weapons. The data gathered by the RX-78-01[FSD] Gundam FSD would later aid the development of the Full Armor Systems used by several Federation Mobile Suits.

Articulation –

The HG Gundam FSD borrows most of its construction from the previously released HG The Origin #17 RX-78-01[N] Gundam Local Type North American, showcasing the in-universe lineage connecting these two Mobile Suits. This model features double-jointed limbs and swiveling thighs supported by an array of polycaps, providing a wide range of motion to create dynamic poses. The HG Gundam FSD features a built-in 3mm attachment point for connecting the model to an Action Base without any adapters! This model includes all the markings necessary to recreate Gundam FSD unit 1’s appearance during its battle with Vasily Bosch’s YMS-08B Dom Test Type.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes –

The HG Gundam FSD utilizes the same Machine Gun as the HG The Origin #14 RCX-76-01 Guncannon Mobility / Firepower Test Type. This weapon features an articulated front grip and an unfolding stock for added stability. The HG Gundam FSD also features two Beam Sabers attached to its backpack for close-quarters engagements. Alternatively, builders can remove one of the Beam Saber holsters and attach the North American Type’s Shoulder Cannon. The HG Gundam FSD’s wrist-mounted Gatling Gun features a removable ammo container that connects to the Mobile Suit’s backpack.
