HGUC #131 RMS-179 GM II

The RMS-179 GM II is a lightly modified RGM-79 GM designed by the Earth Federation shortly after the One Year War concluded. The RMS-179 GM II had a tight development budget and only improved the performance by a small margin. However, these improvements kept the RMS-179 GM II on the battlefield almost 20 years after its inception during the events of the Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn animated series.

The accessories for the RMS-179 GM II are as follows:

  • Beam Rifle
  • Shield
  • Beam Saber

The RMS-179 GM II is one of the first HGUC GM model kits to feature a modern build process. The limbs are double-jointed, the thighs swivel, and the hips will rotate! Bandai managed to squeeze in a ton of posability without compromising the model’s proportions. Color correction for the RMS-179 GM II has been reduced to a minimum thanks to some intelligent parts separation.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes

The RMS-179 GM II’s Beam Rifle features an articulated handle for firing the weapon with both manipulators for more stability. The Shield attaches to the side or back of either forearm thanks to the included adapter. Store the Beam Saber in its holster on the backpack when not in use. A Beam Effect part is included for deploying the weapon. Use the included marking stickers to add even more detail to the RMS-179 GM II and its weaponry!

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HGUC #131 RMS-179 GM II with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking DecalsTop Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
