HGUC #148 MSN-001X Gundam Delta Kai
Tips and Tricks –
By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.
You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HGUC #148 MSN-001X Gundam Delta Kai with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.
Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking Decals. Top Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.

Like the Delta Gundam, the Delta Kai is another cool variant on 2010’s HGUC Delta Plus mold. Designed by Mr. Katoki, this is a cool take on the Delta Plus’s design with more of a Gundam vibe, featuring Zetaplus like arm desgin, Nu Gundam like Fin Funnels, Hyaku Shiki style lower legs and GP03-like side skirts. As great as the sculpt is, this kit will require a lot of paint and thin cement to complete. The sticker sheet is quite large, but if you save it, it will help you with masking if you choose to paint. Lots of seams here- the rifle, the top of the shoulder armor, the inner shoulder armor, the back of the thigh armor, the lower leg frame, the ankle armor, the wing binders, the foot joint, and the worst seam of all on the knee joint. There are hollow spots to fill in the elbow joints and ankle joints.
