This refreshed version of the Beloved RX-78-2 Gundam was released to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of Gundam model kits. The first High-Grade RX-78-2 Gundam, which had released in 2001, was in dire need of an update, and thankfully Bandai delivered.

The RX-78-2 Gundam Revive features all the classic weaponry seen in the anime, now with updated appearances and proportions. These include:

  • Beam Rifle
  • Shield
  • Hyper Bazooka
  • Beam Sabers x2


Articulation –

The RX-78-2 Gundam Revive brings many welcome and much-needed updates to the original kit’s engineering. Thanks to many years of improvements in Gunpla Engineering, you will find many points of articulation not seen on the RX-78-2 Gundam Revive’s predecessor. Those that were present are dramatically improved.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes –

The loadout for the RX-78-2 Gundam Revive is so iconic that almost every Gundam protagonist uses their own variation of the RX-78-2’s equipment. Even those from another Gundam Universe! You can store the Bazooka on the backside of the Gundam when not in use, thanks to an included adapter piece. The shield is also storable thanks to the 3mm peg hole on the backpack.

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HGUC #191 RX-78-2 Gundam Revive with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking Decals. Top Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
