This HGUC MS-06 Zaku II was the first time the mass-production color Zaku II entered the HGUC lineup. The first release was way back in 2003. Since then, Bandai has retooled and revived the Zaku II multiple times since this initial release in various forms. Bandai is planning on releasing their most up-to-date version of this design in December of 2021. Until then, be sure to check out the original HGUC MS-06 Zaku II while their still on shelves!

Articulation – 

The low piece count and simple instructions make the MS-06 Zaku II a great model for entry-level builders, or perfect for building an army of HGUC Zakus! The articulation is easily outperformed by more modern renditions, but still makes a wonderful 1/144 scale version of the MS-06 Zaku II. 

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes –

All of the Missiles are molded separately and can be removed from the Missile Pod. This awesome feature isnt even present on the MG MS-06J Zaku II Ver. 2.0 which released three years later! The Zaku Bazooka can easily be stored on the back skirt armor without the use of additional adapters thanks to the armor’s folding gimmick.

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HGUC #40 MS-06 Zaku II with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking Decals. Top Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
