HGUC #64 MS-05B Zaku I

$13.99

The MS-05B Zaku I was Zeon’s first Mobile Suit designed for combat use. The MS-05B Zaku I was developed in the years prior to the One Year War. By the time the conflict began, Zeon had already started producing the MS-06 Zaku II in massive quantities. In turn, the MS-05B Zaku I saw limited combat use, primarily serving in supportive and construction roles. This HGUC model rendition of the MS-05B Zaku I shares most of its design with the HGUC #68 MS-05B Zaku I Black Tri-Stars model kit.

Here’s what Bandai included alongside the MS-05B Zaku I for accessories:

  • 105mm Machine Gun
  • Initial Type Bazooka
  • Sturm Faust
  • Heat Hawk
  • Knuckle Shield
  • Commander Type Fin

Articulation –

The MS-05B Zaku I is one of the first High Grades featuring double-jointed elbows allowing the MS-05B Zaku I to hold either of its weapons with both hands convincingly. You can also recreate the MS-05B Zaku I’s famous shoulder charge attack with this addition. The MS-05B Zaku I can use an optional support piece that attaches to the Zaku’s torso, supporting the Bazooka as it’s fired. The MS-05B Zaku I can utilize any 3mm peg-based Display Stand.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes

the 105mm Machine gun is the predecessor to the standard 120mm Machine Gun used by the MS-06 Zaku II and many other Zeon Mobile Suits. The same goes for the Bazooka, which would become the well-known 280mm Zaku Bazooka. Attached to the shoulder is a foldable support brace for the Bazooka to rest on when fired. When not in use, the Bazooka clips onto the MS-05B Zaku Is back skirt armor. The handle of the Bazooka doesn’t move, so a specific manipulator is necessary when posing the MS-05B Zaku I wielding its Bazooka.

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HGUC #64 MS-05B Zaku I with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking DecalsTop Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
