HGUC #74 RGM-79Q GM Quel

$15.99

The RGM-79Q GM Quel is the first of many amazing Mobile Suits developed by the Titans. The RGM-79Q GM Quel borrows the bulk of its design from the Earth Federation’s RGM-79N GM Custom. The Titans did reduce the RGM-79Q GM Quel’s weight and simplified the overall construction for a more affordable mass-production Mobile Suit. The Titans Test Team used the RGM-79Q GM Quel to develop the RX-121 series of Mobile Suits. This HGUC rendition of the RGM-79Q GM Quel uses the Advance of Zeta: The Flag of Titans design as its inspiration.

Accessories included with the RGM-79Q GM Quel:

  • HFW-GR·MR82 90mm GM Rifle
  • Shield
  • Beam Saber

Articulation
 –

Because of their shared development history, Bandai used parts from the previously released HGUC #69 RX-121-2 Gundam TR-1 Hazel II to create the HGUC RGM-79Q GM Quel. In fact, many of the HGUC Advance of Zeta model kits share parts that allow builders to swap components easily and build their own Custom Titans Mobile Suit. The RGM-79Q GM Quel’s legs use a simplistic double-polycap knee to provide the model kit with a sufficient level of posability. The torso will rotate 360 degrees around the waist but lacks a ball joint. The reduced articulation in the torso allows the RGM-79Q GM Quel to use backpacks from the previously released Advance of Zeta kits without compromising its stability.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes

The HFW-GR·MR82 90mm GM Rifle uses caseless cartridges to reduce weight and prevent unnecessary civilian casualties (like that famous moment from Gundam F91), as the RGM-79Q GM Quel was designed primarily for in-colony use. The Shield uses the same attachment method as the rest of the HGUC Advance of Zeta models and will rotate for better posing options. Bandai included a transparent pink Beam Effect (and a spare!) to couple with Beam Saber Hilt stored on the RGM-79Q GM Quel’s backpack.

6 Runners total (B, D, F, G, SB6, PC123+)

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HGUC #74 RGM-79Q GM Quel with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking DecalsTop Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
