MG RGM-79Q GM Quel

The RGM-79Q GM Quel is a general-purpose Mobile Suit developed by the Titans based on the RGM-79N GM Custom. The RGM-79Q GM Quel was the first Mobile Suit that the Titans mass-produced during their rise in power. The Titans would use the RGM-79Q GM Quel for many tasks within their occupying colonies, including riot suppression and general assignments. The RGM-79Q GM Quel benefits from significantly lighter armor plating and an upgraded sensor package. The RGM-79Q GM Quel would serve as the base for the RX-121 Gundam TR-1 [Hazel] before the Titans began the construction of its successor, the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II.

Included alongside the MG GM Quel for accessories:

  • HFW-GR·MR82 90mm GM Rifle
  • Spare Magazine x2
  • BOWA·BR-S-85-C2 Beam Rifle
  • XB-G-1065H Beam Saber x2
  • 1/20 Nina Purpleton Figure

The MG GM Quel borrows most of its construction from the previously released MG GM Custom, showcasing the in-universe lineage that connects these Mobile Suits. This model features double-jointed knees and swiveling thighs, providing a wide range of motion to create dynamic poses. There are several detailed internal components throughout the MG GM Quel’s design, but it does not feature a complete inner frame. Bandai provided small sheets of marking stickers and dry-transfer decals to help builders customize their MG GM Quel right out of the box!

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes

The MG GM Quel includes the BOWA·BR-S-85-C2 Beam Rifle as its primary weapon, a standard armament used by many Federation Mobile Suits. This weapon features an articulated forward grip for added security when firing. The MG GM Quel also includes the HFW-GR·MR82 90mm GM Rifle, which features a removable magazine for some awesome reloading action! There are two spare magazines for this weapon inside the Mobile Suit’s Shield. This model also features a pair of Beam Sabers for close-quarters engagements, one of which can attach to the Mobile Suit’s backpack when not equipped.

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the MG RGM-79Q GM Quel with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. Making your own panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking DecalsTop Coating before application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
