The Gundam Astray Red Frame is one of five Gundam Astray units assembled in secret by the Orb Union. In their original configuration, the Gundam Astrays were identical, distinguished only by the color of their internal frame (as the name would suggest). Orb engineers utilized data stolen from the Earth Alliance’s G Project, effectively copying their beam technology but unable to recreate the G-Project Gundam’s Phase Shift Armor. Instead, The Gundam Astray Red Frame and its sisters utilize much lighter and less restrictive armor, significantly increasing its maneuverability and handling compared to the Earth Alliance Units. After several events, the Red Frame fell into the hands of Junk Guild member Lowe Guele, who would soon become the Mobile Suit’s pilot.

Articulation –

The SD Gundam Astray Red Frame features an entirely new construction supported by an array of polycaps, as it was the first rendition of this Mobile Suit in the SD BB Senshi line! The SD BB Senshi is the longest-running Gunpla line in history, beginning in 1987 and still receiving new entries almost 40 years later! Each model in this line features a simple construction with basic articulation to create different poses. The SD Gundam Astray Red Frame features a removable backpack and a pair of Beam Saber hilts attached to its back. The SD Gundam Astray Red Frame also includes a Shield that will connect to either forearm. Bandai provided a sheet of color-correcting stickers to help builders recreate the Mobile Suit’s on-screen appearance right out of the box!

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the SD BB Senshi #248 Gundam Astray Red Frame with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. Making your own panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking Decals. Top Coating before application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
